Buffet, drinks and Martini
Since arriving at La Gare at the end of August, Marie Ségolène Brault has been fine-tuning this project, rubbing shoulders with fishermen, adventure guides and sports sites, poking around flea markets and online sales, in search of clues, artifacts, photos, books and flies. Numerous objects gleaned from her experiences are at the heart of a performance that plunges the spectator into an unsettling environment, filled with symbology and coded references. This one-woman show takes place inside an installation composed of martini glasses, fishing tackle, laboratory equipment and a dead fish. In the form of an epistolary narrative, the artist reads letters addressed to a compulsive fisherman, the bartender of a small Montreal bar and the Matapedia River.
