ACTIVITIES
The Matapédia station is a heritage building whose initial architecture is intact. It evokes the development of the regions by train and multiple journeys, witnesses of different eras. The Matapédia station becomes a space-workshop for creation offered to visual artists.
The waiting room is taken over by two works by the Rimouski artist Fernande Forest, a mural and a tondo made from archive photos of the station and the surrounding railway courtesy of railroad enthusiasts, who admirably make the link between the old and the new vocation of the place while underlining its great heritage value.
Various events and activities take place at the Gare de Matapédia, a new place of expression in the heart of the municipality. In particular, several animations by the co-tenant organizationCentr’Elles and presentations of artists in residence take place from time to time.
